The 1994 Gold Proof Three-Coin Sovereign Set contains a Half Sovereign, Sovereign and Two-Pound Coin (Double Sovereign), each struck in 22-carat gold to Proof standard by The Royal Mint.
The Two-Pound Coin features a commemorative reverse by Leslie Durbin celebrating the Tercentenary of the Bank of England, while the Sovereign and Half Sovereign feature Benedetto Pistrucci's classic St George and the Dragon design. All three coins feature Queen Elizabeth II's third official coinage portrait by Raphael Maklouf.
Only 1,250 three-coin gold Proof sets were authorised for worldwide distribution. The collection also includes a gold-plated medallion featuring the Royal Crown on one side and a cameo portrait of a Shih Tzu representing the 1994 Chinese lunar symbol on the other.
The set is supplied in the original Royal Mint presentation box with certificate.
