The 2017 Nations of the Crown £1 Gold Proof Coin was produced to mark the introduction of the new 12-sided £1 coin, which replaced the traditional round pound in circulation.
 
The coin features a design by David Pearce, bringing together the rose, thistle, leek and shamrock associated with England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland within a crowned design. It was struck in 916.7 gold and finished to Proof standard.
 
The Royal Mint produced this Gold Proof as a limited presentation of 2,017 pieces, reflecting the year in which the new 12-sided £1 was introduced.
